The “Racial Equity & Homelessness Summit 2018: Redesign with Racial Equity,” hosted by C4’s SPARC initiative, took place place February 7-8 in Seattle, WA. The summit was sponsored by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Raikes Foundation.

The goal of the Summit was to ensure racial equity is prioritized and fully integrated within redesign efforts to prevent and end homelessness. The Summit brought together national and regional community leaders to develop a menu of strategies for systems transformation in SPARC’s partner communities as well as preliminary metrics to track community success.

Our research has documented the impact of systemic racism on homelessness and suggests that no effort to eradicate homelessness can be effective without addressing this intersection.
